The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is an Educational non-profit organization servicing the field of Gems and Gemology. For 11 years we provided global support for the Horizon application, which is the key software package utilized by the company to grade diamonds and identify gemstones. During this time we wrote and deployed 10 mission critical enhancements. We also developed the GIA report Check application, which clients use to verify the authenticity of a report.
Our tasks involved daily maintenance and production support as well as project management. We utilized client server and web technologies and the Oracle database suite of tools. The languages that we worked with were Java, ColdFusion, CSS, Javascript, HTML and Powerbuilder. The Operating systems were Linux, Unix and Windows.
